Why is Russia reluctant towards the Sale of Brahmos ?

Thursday 26 April, 2007

BRAHMOS is a Supersonic Cruise Missile that can be launched from submarine, ship, aircraft and land based Mobile Autonomous Launchers (MAL). Its a highly Lethal Sate of the Art Missile with Superior technology.

Some of the Features include:
  • High Supersonic Velocity
  • Long flight range with supersonic speed all through the flight
  • Varieties of flight trajectories
  • "Fire & Forget" principle
  • Universal for multiple platforms
  • Low Radar Signature
  • Simplicity of technical operations
  • High lethal power
  • Higher effectiveness
  • Higher destructive capability aided by the large kinetic energy of impact
  • Shorter flight times leading to lower target dispersion and quicker engagement

Superiority of the BRAHMOS Supersonic Anti-ship Missile over a Subsonic Long Range Anti-ship Missile :

  • In Velocity by 3 times
  • In flight range by 2.5 - 3 times
  • In seeker range by 3 - 4 times

Russia not so keen on selling Brahmos to other countries ?

Sunday,Jan 21 Banglore/Moscow: Ahead of President Vladimir Putin's arrival (on the Republic Day of INDIA), A top Russian Defence Official commented

"This is a very lethal and potent weapon system (the Brahmos Missiles), which can upset balance of forces in an region where it may appear, be it in our neighborhood.Indian Ocean or Latin America"

Colonel. General Antoly Mazurkevich said,

"We are not keen on giving it to other countries, be it China or any other friendly nation"

Colonel. General Antoly Mazurkevich is the head of International Cooperation Department of the Russian Defence Ministry.

So What Makes Brahmos so Dangerous ?

Though India's aggressive marketing tactics of powerful defence weapons can be cited as one reason, the main reason for Russia's reluctance is because the Brahmos Missile is a very powerful highly lethal Missile with a high range capacity but currently it has been bottle necked to a range of 300km adhering the MCTR (Missile Technology Control Regime) .

But this range of 300km can be extended further illegally which may cause Disastrous results.

"We are not worried about it as we have nuclear weapons but this (illegal extension of range) may pose threat not only to India but also to our other friends and allies"

Rajini o r Jaya - Who is having more popularity?

There is a popular story saying that wherever you go, you will find rajinikanth fans. Rajinikanth was bragging to Jayalalitha one day, "You know, I know everyone there is to know. Just name someone, anyone, and I know them." Tired of his boasting, jayalalitha called his bluff, "OK, Rajini how about Tom Cruise?" "Sure, yes. Tom and I are old friends, and I can prove it." So rajini and jayalalitha fly out to Hollywood and knock on Tom Cruise's door, and sure enough, Tom Cruise shouts, "Thalaiva! Great to see you! You and your friend come right in and join me for lunch!"

Although impressed, Jayalalitha is still skeptical. After they leave Cruise's house, she tells rajini that she thinks rajini knowing Cruise was just lucky. "No, no, just name anyone else",rajini says. "President Bush", jayalalitha quickly retorts. "Yes", Rajini says, "I know him, let's fly out to Washington". And off they go. At the White House, Bush spots Rajini on the tour and motions him, saying, "Rajini, what a surprise? I was just on my way to a meeting, but you and your friend come on in and let's have a cup of coffee first and catch up."

Well, jayalalitha is very shaken by now, but still not totally convinced. After they leave the White House grounds, she expresses her doubts to Rajini who again implores her to name anyone else. "The Pope", Jayalalitha replies. "Sure" says Rajini "My folks are from Poland, and I've known the Pope a long time." So off they fly to Rome.

Rajini and jayalalitha are assembled with the masses in Vatican Square when Rajini says, "This will never work. I can't catch the Pope's eye among all these people. Tell you what, I know all the guards so let me just go upstairs and I'll come out on the balcony with the Pope." And he disappears into the crowd headed toward the Vatican.

Sure enough, half an hour later Rajini emerges with the Pope on the balcony. But by the time Rajini returns, he finds that jayalalitha had a heart attack and is surrounded by paramedics. Working his way to jayalalitha' side, Rajini asks her, "What happened?" Jayalalitha looks up and says, "I was doing fine until you and the Pope came out on the balcony and the man next to me asked, "Who's that on the balcony with Rajini?"

HOW IS IT ??? ;)

Beijing Fishing in INDIAN Waters ?

Seychelles a tiny island group is now one of the most talked
news in INDIA. Why so ?

Read On:2007-1-30
Beijing: President Hu Jintao has announced his plan on an eight nation tour to Africa. He would be visiting West Africa's Cameroon then Liberia, then to Sudan in the east,Zambia,Namibia,South Africa,Mozambique and Seychelles.
Seychelles a tiny island nation in the Western part of Indian Ocean consisting of 115 islands and a population of as low as 85,000 people.
So why is this Island in the high profile list of Beijing? Its Certain that Mr. Hu Jintao is not visiting there for a massage or a good vacation.
His visit clearly reveals the growing Chinese Naval Interest in theINDIAN Ocean. This doesn't come as a big surprise to New Delhi as this wasn't the first time the Chinese were showing such an interest. A couple of years ago India successfully halted a possible Navy assistance form China to Seychelles byoffering “INS Tarmugli” at a timely manner and thus avoided what could have caused a serious power imbalance in the Indian Ocean in the future.

Current Situation:
China is actively indulging with Islands like Sri Lanka, Maldives,Mauritius and Madagascar in order to establish its maritime presence in theIndian Ocean.
If China becomes successful in establishing maritime supremacy in Indian Ocean, it will be able to prevent India's freedom of movement in its own water.

Such a maritime sphere of influence will give Beijing options for exercising its power as it sees fit, and thus causing serious power imbalances in the region.

My Views: Time For India to Act Fast to Secure its ocean from the Chinese.
The Only Ocean in the World that is named after a country and its people is the INDIAN Ocean and it rightfully belongs to the INDIANS.
Terms Used:INS Tarmugli:An Indian Naval War Ship

america's desired map of india: minus kashmir, arunachal, northeast

Wednesday 25 April, 2007

i got the following mail from a reader.

on checking the link on the iranian site, i came across the henry sokolski book's cover. i guess this guy is a non-proliferation ayatollah, and i suspect he is an atlanticist democrat. not that it matters, nor the content of his book. but the blatant violation of india's territorial integrity is what shocked me.

1. kashmir completely given away to pakistan and china
2. arunachal pradesh given away to china
3. the entire northeast a different country: presumably christist-stan

with nepal also in communist hands (also supported by christist interests) this is a sweeping master-plan for turning india into a truncated client state of china.

i have seen this very truncated map of india in many US government/quango publications. this is what the US has in mind for india. remember there was a detailed analysis by some us army college of war guy talking about splitting pakistan up? well, they have a similar goal for india as well.

manmohan singh has led india up the garden path with this nuclear deal. the reality is that the US is only interested in thwarting the thorium-fueled fast-breeder ambitions of india. this also enters into the rama-setu destruction, because once that barrier is gone, the next tsunami will wipe out kerala's thorium-bearing coastal sends: ie, end of india's independent nuclear energy capability.

this is one serious conspiracy emerging

Back 2 Blogging

Yeah yeah... I finally decided to write again... There comes a time in most bloggers lives when you can't think of anything to write.. You are just too bored.. You finally realise that there are only a handful of people reading your blog and its a waste of time to write something for just a couple of guys. Its not going to make a big difference if you just stop writing.. its like the times when you wonder if its going to make any difference to the people around you if you just disappear from the face of the earth..

Thankfully, this is not the case with me. I am still interested in writing(and reading) blogs. Which is why I still go around reading my friends blogs and post comments. But writing is something which I haven't been able to do for the last couple of weeks... (okay.. months!). Don't ask for a reason.. I am not very sure myself.

Infact for the past few weeks, I haven't been able to do anything. I didn't submit most of my assignments. I didn't write my practical records. I just read a couple of pages of my math textbook for preparing for my internals tomorrow. Maybe it has something to do with the hot weather. Its hard to describe it.. Something like comfortably numb, as in pink floyd's classic song. I am relaxed and content by just sleeping and not doing anything. This sort of thing happens in the middle of every semester. I just get tired of going to college. I get tired of doing assignments. I get tired of getting up in the morning. I get tired of hostel food. I don't blog and just use the internet to check my scraps in orkut. To sum it up, I get tired with life!

And then, all of a sudden, your class teacher calls you and says you have attendance shortage. That changes everything. You have to get up in the morning every day. Before T2, you realise there are just 2 more tests left so you gotta study to get a decent average. And since you have to sleep early and get up early to attend classes, you don't get at odd times throughout the day.. and you don't get tired and bored by sleeping too much. And then you start blogging again.
So hopefully I will start posting regularly from now. But I am planning to close my other blogs and just post here.
Anyways, I mentioned orkut somewhere in this post before. I just realised what a big waste of time it is. Most of my friends are hooked on to it. And for no reason. You just scrap all your friends who you already know. And if you care enough to scrap someone who you don't meet regularly, you should probably keep in touch with that person through the phone or something. Ultimately the aim of orkut is that you can meet new people and make new friends. And of all the friends I know, no one has even bothered to meet someone new.. Not interested.. Ofcourse, you hear about people meeting their life partners and getting jobs from orkut.. but you don't need that right now, then whats the point? And how often does that happen anyways? One in a million I guess... And doing all this offline is more effective and reliable. Just makes me wonder why orkut is so addictive and everyone is hooked on to it. From now on, I am planning to limit myself to checking scraps every weekend. I won't bother visiting communities anymore.. In any care, most of the people there are narrow minded and just keep arguing about the same thing over and over again... its kinda tiring to discuss and talk with people like these. So thats it... I am going to use the internet(and my time) on more useful things from now on!

Feisty Fawn 7.04.. still won't work!

I just spent 2 days of my Internet time downloading the image of Feisty Fawn, the latest version of Ubuntu. I thought its better than waiting for the cd to be delivered and you save Canonical a couple of bucks in shipping! By the way, they are going to ship the new version of Ubuntu to those who request it, unlike 6.10.
Throughout these 2 days, I was praying that the new OS will work with my graphics card enabled on my motherboard... and guess what happened when I tried to run the live distro.. It got hanged as usual! I think I am right in saying that there is no Linux distro which works with my motherboard with an AGP card. I have tried Red Hat(and fedora core), Ubuntu, SuSe and Mandriva.. and nothing worked. I didn't bother trying Debian.. I guess if Ubuntu doesn't work, Debian won't (Ubuntu is basically a customized Debian distribution)
Its really strange.. Maybe all the Linux programmers in the world thought it wasn't worth their time by making this particular motherboard (Asrock i865gv) work with Linux when it has a graphics card plugged in.
Then again, its a pretty old chipset model. Even low end computers come with atleast a 915 chipset motherboard.. or maybe that is also too old.. 945 then.
Its sad... I actually like Ubuntu a lot.. the neat interface, the looks, the usability won my heart when I first installed it. That was before I got my graphics card. Come to think of it, I really don't need my external graphics card to work in Ubuntu. I won't be able to run the XGL interface or any of those translucent effects.. but I can live without that. That's not the reason why I want Ubuntu. But I bought my graphics card with my own hard earned money! Okay.. not exactly hard earned.. It was pocket money from dad.. but I saved up cash for ages to buy it! It would be a waste if I didn't use it. I play games now and then.. its not like I am hooked on to it.. and if I had to, I guess I could live without them. And I wouldn't mind if the onboard graphics takes 64mb of my 1gb of RAM. But the fact that I have an external card which I bought with my own money prevents me from doing this.
I guess I have wait till I get my new laptop.. which will be next year as promised by my dad. And I have promised myself I won't spend any cash upgrading my desktop computer. So no Linux for a year!
PS: Incase you were wondering, I hate virtualisation software, so don't bother asking me to try Linux on a virtual machine. I will explain this hatred later.

The Internet is getting boring!

Yes.. It's true. Internet doesn't just keep me interested any more. It just struck me. I just came back from dinner and thought of surfing the net for some time. Then I realised... I don't know which site to surf! I ran out of topics to read in Wikipedia..
I stopped using orkut regularly because that's too boring.. I stopped visiting discussion boards and forums some time ago when I tired of that too.
Come on think of it.. Now Internet is not a form of entertainment for me. It's just like a utility. I just check my mails everyday and blog.
Earlier i chatted 4 hours now rarely
It was different before when many new sites used to come up with many new innovative applications. The last such thing I discovered was orkut, and that was a year ago.
If you have anything interesting in mind, just drop a comment and let me know!

Bill Gates vs. General Motors

For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on.

At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, "If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon."

In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating:

If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics –

1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash........ Twice a day.

2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.

3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.

4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads

6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation" warning light.

7. The airbag system would ask "Are you sure?" before deploying.

8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.

9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

10. You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off.
